Sleep apnea is a disorder in which a person has long pauses in breathing or periods of shallow breathing during sleep. People with sleep apnea often suffer from fatigue and cognitive impairment during the day, due to lack of deep sleep, and lack of oxygen getting to the brain at night.  Sleep apnea is also associated other health problems, such as a higher likelihood of developing diabetes, dementia, and heart disease.

Many people develop this condition in adulthood, and the solution in western medicine is generally to use a sleeping device, often times a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machine.  These machines prevent the upper airway from collapsing, and is effective for managing sleep apnea, but does nothing to help a person actually eliminate the condition.  And compliance is generally poor: half of all CPAP users stop using the machine in a year, due to its cumbersome nature.

But thru Nutritional Analysis, I have found that there are some key factors, that, if  addressed, can greatly prevent or reduce  sleep apnea.  The earlier a person can put this into practice, the better.  Here are my top 5 recommendations:

  1. Reduce Electromagnetic Frequency exposure at night. This helps with every health issue, but especially those that occur at night.  I recommend keeping any cell phones in the bedroom on airplane mode at night (don’t worry, the alarm on it still works in airplane mode). Fully shut down any laptops, or ipads.  Avoid Alexas and google devices in the bedroom, and definitely shut off any amplifiers or  routers in the bedroom.
  2. Avoid GMO foods. These are corn, canola, and soy products. GMO’s tend to clog the lymphatic system and are often high in glyphosate.  Both GMO’s and glyphosate show up as common culprits in the case of sleep apnea.
  3.  Dairy. Unfortunately, dairy does contribute to many health issues, sleep apnea being one of them. If you do eat dairy, consider taking a digestive enzyme with it to reduce the problems they cause.
  4.  Chlorine bleach also frequently comes up as a contributing factor in sleep apnea.Chlorine is a strong lung irritant, so I advise avoiding Clorox wipes, bleach cleaners, and to hold one’s breath when putting bleach in the laundry.  Also, frequent users of pools and hot tubs should use a liver supplement (with the herb milk thistle) to allow the bleach they have inhaled to come out of their system instead of staying in the lungs and liver.
  5. Inhaled heavy metals are another big cause of sleep apnea. The air unfortunately does have heavy metal particulates in it, and some days are worse than others, especially during fire season. Detoxing heavy metals does require some professional help, but a general liver detox supplement is a safe place anyone can start on their own.

The 5 above factors are not a comprehensive list of every factor that can cause sleep apnea, but are the ones I commonly find with muscle testing, and the first 4 are easy enough to reduce on one’s own.  But of course a nutritional analysis session can find the answers easily and quickly enough, and make a big difference in helping get back full breathing at night.
