Modalities Used

Srinika uses a combination of different approaches for each individual and their condition to create a customized treatment. For example, musculoskeletal conditions respond well to acupuncture and manual therapy, whereas skin conditions respond better to herbal therapy and dietary adjustments. And sometimes a person might respond better to a certain modality than another.

The following is a description of the modalities Srinika uses:

acupuncture

Acupuncture is the science of restoring a healthy flow of Qi, life force energy, through the insertion of fine needles into specific points within the body. These points are located along neural pathways that create physiological change in the body. This modality has been used for two thousand years in China. Occassionally, an electrical stimulation machine is attached to the needles to strengthen the effect of the treatment.

Herbal medicine

Chinese herbs have been used for thousands of years to treat a wide range of illness. They are a natural and extremely effective method of treating imbalances. Herbal formulas can address not only the symptoms of a disease, but the underlying causes as well.

tui na

Tui Na is an orthopedic massage technique that aligns the structure of the body. This style of bodywork uses passive stretches and acupressure to increase circulation and decrease inflammation. Tui Na relaxes and invigorates - easing neck, back, and joint stiffness.

chi nei tsang

Chi Nei Tsang is method of abdominal massage that incorporates breathwork and palpation to release old holding patterns within the abdominal organs. Chi Nei Tsang is a powerful technique that can resolve many digestive issues, including: weight problems, bowel disorders, abdominal pain, liver/gallbladder dysfunction, acid reflux, and more.

cranio sacral therapy

This is a form of subtle touch that rebalances the nervous system. Aiding the body's natural healing processes, CranioSacral Therapy is remarkably effective for a wide range of medical concerns, including anxiety, headaches, insomia, ADD, and chronic fatigue.

Cupping

Glass or bamboo cups are used on various parts of the body. The glass or bamboo cups are suctioned onto the skin to help alleviate painful conditions, relieve a flu or cold, strengthen particular parts of the body, bring toxins to the surface, relax muscles, and circulate more blood to various areas needing attention.

Moxibustion (moxa)?

Moxa is a dried Chinese herb also known as mugwort or artemesia. This herb is burned and the smoke and warmth from it is used to facilitate blood circulation to benefit painful syndromes, flaccidity, atrophy, improve energy and strengthen a patient's Qi.
